Exploring the Old Town with History in Mind
Pljevlja sits in a broad valley in northern Montenegro, close to the borders with Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and its historic core reflects centuries as a crossroads between regions. The town grew in importance under Ottoman rule, when it became a regional administrative centre. The best-known landmark from that period is the Husein-Pasha Mosque, built in the second half of the sixteenth century and known for its slender minaret and richly decorated interior.
