Welcome to Biblioteka Pljevlja! Becoming a member of our library is easy and opens the door to a wealth of resources.
How to Get a Library Card:
- Visit us at our library location.
- Provide a valid form of identification (ID or passport).
- Fill out a membership application form.
- Receive your library card immediately upon approval.
Please note that membership is free for residents of Pljevlja. Non-residents may be subject to a small fee.
Borrowing Rules:
- Members can borrow up to 5 items at a time.
- The borrowing period is 30 days, with the option to renew if no holds are placed on the item.
- Late returns may incur a small fine.
- Members are responsible for the items borrowed under their card.

A library card is more than a borrowing pass. Once you are a member, a few simple habits make it easier to find what you need, keep your account in good standing and get real value from the collection.
Before you visit
Browsing the catalogue before you come in saves time, especially if you are looking for a specific title, author or subject. Note the details of the books you want so staff can locate them quickly. If an item is already on loan, ask at the desk whether it can be reserved for you. Popular titles, school reading list books and new arrivals tend to be in demand, so planning ahead helps.
Looking after borrowed items
Because you are responsible for everything borrowed on your card, it pays to treat each item with care:
- Carry books in a bag to protect them from rain and snow, which matter in Pljevlja's winters.
- Keep them away from food, drinks, pets and small children who might tear pages.
- Do not repair damage yourself with tape or glue. Tell staff instead, as the library has its own methods.
- Use a bookmark rather than folding page corners.
Keeping track of due dates
A 30-day loan period passes quickly. Writing the return date in a calendar or setting a phone reminder is the easiest way to avoid late fines. If you need more time, ask about a renewal before the due date rather than after. Renewal is only possible when nobody else is waiting for the item.
Cards for families and young readers
Children and teenagers benefit enormously from having their own access to books. If you are registering a young reader, ask staff what is required from a parent or guardian. Sharing regular library visits with children builds reading habits that last, and many families combine borrowing with events listed on our programmes page.
Keeping your details up to date
Let the library know if you move, change your phone number or lose your card. A lost card should be reported as soon as possible so that nobody else can borrow items in your name.
